This Pillsbury™ Air Fryer Pizza Rolls recipe is perfect for a kid's birthday party, as a dinner appetizer, or as a snack. The best part? It's so quick and easy to make. All it takes is just about 10 minutes in the air fryer!
I love using the Pillsbury™ pizza dough for this recipe. It saves lots of time when you are planning a party or when you are pressed with time. Keep it in the refrigerator (not the freezer) until ready to use.
Another great thing about this recipe is how versatile it is. Because my kids like completely different pizza toppings (what a surprise!), before rolling, I topped half of the pizza with my son's favorite toppings and the other half with my daughter's favorites. The possibilities are endless with the toppings in these rolls. Make them Hawaiian, vegetable, or meat-lovers rolls.

Ingredients
- Pizza dough: any Pillsbury™ pizza crust will work great. I use the Pillsbury™ Classic Pizza Crust.
- Cheese: Mozzarella cheese is the most popular and classic cheese choice for pizza because it melts so great and creates that gooey texture that we all love. But you can also use cheddar cheese. Sharp cheddar or a cheddar blend can add a bold flavor to your pizza.
- Pizza Sauce - since this recipe is a quick appetizer, I use a store-bought pizza sauce. But, if you'd like to make homemade sauce, here's a great pizza sauce recipe from Five Heart Home.
see the recipe card at the end of the post for ingredients and quantities.
Some Ideas for Toppings:
The pizza rolls I made, as featured in the image, are made with pepperoni slices, olives, and mixed greens. But here is a list of toppings you can use as well:
- Pepperoni slices
- Mushroom slices
- Tomato slices
- Sundried tomatoes
- Broccoli
- Olives - pitted and sliced
- Ham pieces
- Grilled chicken, diced, maybe with BBQ Sauce?
- Bacon bits or bacon pieces
- Pineapple
- Anchovies
- Jalapeno peppers
- Roasted red peppers
- Parmesan Cheese
- Onion slices
- Italian Seasoning
Substitutions and variations
- Pizza Sauce: Marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or spicy mayo will also taste great.
- Make it gluten-free: Pillsbury™ also makes gluten-free pizza crust, which you can use instead.
- Make it dairy-free: Choose a dairy-free pizza sauce. Many tomato-based pizza sauces are naturally dairy-free, but it's best to check labels for hidden dairy ingredients. Also make sure to choose dairy-free Mozzarella: Brands like Daiya, Violife, or Follow Your Heart offer dairy-free mozzarella shreds that melt well. You can also make a homemade cashew-based cheese sauce for drizzling, or sprinkle nutritional yeast on the pizza for a cheesy flavor.
- Spice it up: you can add an extra layer of flavor by drizzling some hot sauce or sprinkling red pepper flakes on the pizza before rolling it. You can also add spicy sausage and/or slices of pickled hot peppers. It all depends on the level of spice you are looking to add.
Preparation
STEP 1: Roll Dough
Unroll the dough onto a nonstick cutting board. Using a rolling pin gently roll the pizza dough to create an even base of approximately 16 x 11 inch rectangle.
STEP 2: Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough and sprinkle with the ground cheese.
STEP 3: Add Toppings
Add toppings of your choice. Featured image toppings: pepperoni slices, mixed greens, and olives.
STEP 4: Roll and Slice
Starting from the bottom of the longer side, roll up the dough tightly, to form a log. Using a sharp knife cut the dough into even size pieces, approximately 1 1/2 inches each.
STEP 5: Place rolls in the air fryer
Place the pizza rolls in a single layer in your air fryer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, place as many rolls as will fit, making sure they are not touching or overlapping (about 1 inch apart). Leave the remaining rolls to cook as a second batch.
STEP 6: Air Fry
Place the basket in the air fryer and cook the pizza rolls at 350°F for approximately 5 minutes. Flip the rolls over the the opposite side and cook for another 5 minutes or until golden brown. Repeat with the next batch.
Top Tips
- Arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer, making sure they are not touching so they don't stick together.
- Regularly check the pizza rolls towards the end of the cooking time to prevent overcooking. The outer layer should be golden brown and crispy.
- You may also like to sprinkle some parmesan cheese on the rolls before serving.
